We’re really excited to be able to annouce our new guitarist: Dave Shirman.
Dave Shirman – guitar
Dave’s already a good friend of the band and used to play with Tim in their band Serpent Sins. We invited Dave to come and audition a couple of weeks ago and it immediately felt like a good match. He played the songs like he’d known them for years instead of just a week, and he impressed us with his playing and attitude. He’s a tight rhythm player, a stylish lead player and a creative writer and we’re really excited about where his input is going to take us next.
And I promise it won’t be long before we’re back on the stage where we belong!
We are sorry to have to announce that Stanley Long has decided to leave Neuronspoiler. Stanley wants to pursue other musical directions and other projects, and we entirely respect his decision. The ethos of Neuronspoiler has always been about love and passion for music so we support his desire to search for a situation that inspires him to do what he loves.
We’re sorry to lose him, but we wish him all the success in the world in all his musical endeavors in the future.
Update (21/12/11) – We’re sorry to announce that for reasons beyond our control, this tour has now fallen through. We will no longer be playing any shows in Finland in January. The only UK gig that is still taking place is our slot at Arctic Festival 2012. We will be the main support for Power Quest on Friday 6th January.
We’re extremely excited to announce that we’ll be going on tour with Elvenking and Secret Sphere in the UK and Finland in January. All the dates are up on our Live Dates page as well as on our Facebook BandPage.
We’re looking forward to playing in some other places in the UK that we haven’t gone to before, but we’re even more excited about getting out to Finland. I mean, where do you begin with Finland – Children of Bodom, Hanoi Rocks, Sonata Arctica, Finntroll, Amorphis, Turisas, Reckless Love, Korpiklaani… That’s a country that knows its metal!
This has all been put together by our good friends at the Arctic Agency, who we’re very much looking forward to working with more in the future.
We’ve been a little quiet here recently because we’ve been working on a few things which will hopefully start making the next few months more exciting for everybody.
First, the small things:
We’re headlining a gig at the legendary Bridgehouse 2 (I know it’s in the middle of an industrial estate, but it is legendary, honest) on the 14th October. The best place to look for details is on the Facebook event page where you can also catch a glimpse of the swanky poster featuring a few ugly faces you may recognise. This isn’t just any old gig, however. It’s actually a showcase for some Sony A&R people. So it would help us out a lot if you could all come along and pack out the room and show them why they should stop throwing so much money at Beyonce and start stuffing it down our trousers instead.
As if one gig at the legendary Bridgehouse 2 weren’t enough, we’ve also been added to the bill of Arctic Festival 2012 which is a 3 day metal festival in January. Thankfully the whole thing is indoors, so you can enjoy metal from the likes of Powerquest, Spirytus, Elvenking, Cypher 16, Beholder, Kyrbrinder and ourselves without freezing your teats off. Again, check out the Facebook event page for all the details.
Now onto the bigger news which is more exciting but which I can say less about!
We should have a couple of tracks featured in the biggest metal magazine in India in an upcoming issue. I’m not sure exactly how confirmed this is at the moment, but I really hope it comes together. Our Indian fans are so enthusiastic and dedicated and have been so tireless in spreading the word about the band. It seems like the Indian metal scene is really exploding at the moment and fans there are just so hungry for new music, so this is a really exciting time to try and get some more exposure there.
We have been talking for a little while about the follow up to No One’s Safe and we’ve thought through a lot of possibilities, such as recording another EP, recording a full album or even recording and releasing one track every couple of months and then putting them all together as an album at some stage. We haven’t totally decided on anything yet – partly because money is sparse and so all our decisions are limited by what we can afford – but we have had some interesting talks with people about some interesting deals which could mean that the next record isn’t too far away. Don’t quote me on anything, but it’s possible that we could be back in the studio before too long!
We’re getting really psyched up for the Surface Festival Regional Final in just a couple of weeks – Sunday 4th September at the legendary O2 Academy, Islington in London.
We really need your help to make the most of this opportunity. The most amazing thing you could do to help us would be to come along on the 4th and rock out as hard and as loud as you can in the front row and make every other band wish they had fans as amazing as all of you! You can buy tickets here or contact any of the band on Facebook.
The second way you can really help us out is to vote by text. Text votes count for a lot in this round, so every one will really make a difference.
To vote, text “south 5006″ to 64343.
Texts cost £1 and you can vote as many times as you like (hint hint: please vote many times!).
The showcase gig on the 4th September goes on from around midday to 10pm and tickets get you entry to all of that. All the bands are great, including some really good rock and metal bands. The full list is here.
Neuronspoiler will be on between 5.15 pm and 9.45pm but we won’t find out exactly what time until the morning of the 4th. So if you’d like to receive a text update on the day telling you our stage time, send your mobile number to tim@neuronspoiler.com.
